Playreading - Shakespeare in the park: The Comedy of Errors
7pm, Wednesday 24 June 2026
Shakespeare's shortest comedy, selected by club members for our inaugural summer playreading in the park.
A tale of high-stakes mistaken identity, set in a vibrant commercial town full of mystery, confusion and terrifying immigration laws. Are you with Antipholus of Ephesus or Antipholus of Syracuse?
Bring:
- a script if you have one (we have some if you don't)
- a camping chair if you have one and warm clothes
Location: Upper Fitz Park, on the lawn with the stone sculpture, between the bowling green and the tennis courts. Free parking near the museum on Station Street. If it rains we'll be in the HNW cafe's covered seating area by kind permission of the owner.
Fabulous Fridays
7pm, Friday 10 July 2026, upstairs at the Quaker Meeting House
Each session includes games, exercises and scriptwork.

Playreading - A Sudden Violent Burst of Rain by Sami Ibrahim
7pm, Thursday 23 July 2026
'We all live under the same sky. It's just that, beneath that sky, there's some arsehole saying, "Don't stand here, stand over there and shut your mouth."'
A Sudden Violent Burst of Rain is a poetic fable about an impenetrable immigration system. 'A startlingly bold tragicomedy' (The Guardian); 'skilfully holds humour in uneasy tension with its characters' pain.' (The Telegraph)
7pm upstairs at the Quaker Meeting House, access from car park. Scripts provided.
